Description:
Mercy Home for Children is recruiting for a Senior Accountant that will be responsible for monthly closing, account analysis, and assisting in all accounting, management compliance and reporting, including but not limited to assistance with planning & budgeting functions.
Oversees the organization’s banking relationships, including commercial banking, wires, and relevant treasury policies and procedures.
Manages monthly closings.
Oversee the work of accounts receivable, grants, entitlements, bank reconciliation and restricted funds.
This is a newly created position and will work alongside another Sr.
Accountant, to which both will report to the Executive Director.
In addition, will represent the Agency by promoting and modeling the mission and core values of the Sisters of Mercy.
Essential Functions:
• Maintain strong working knowledge of state and federal regulations related to funding reimbursement of Agency programs.
• Preparation and review of profit & loss statements for all programs, contracts, and grants.
• Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements, annual financial audits, annual budgeting and, other interim projection reporting needs, as necessary.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations; update depreciation and amortization schedules.
• Reconcile revenues and various balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Responsible for accurate and timely of all revenues, expenses, cash receipts and disbursement.
• Prepare monthly budget reports for each residence expenditure and meet with Administration and Management quarterly to assist them in staying within budget.
• Knowledge and ability to process payroll utilizing payroll Software as preferred.
• Adhere to Corporate Compliance guidelines of Mercy Home.
• Ensure financial policies and procedures are relevant and updated as needed.
• Assume responsibility for other tasks as requested by the Executive Sr.
VP of Operations and Executive Director.
• Ability to collaborate and multi-task meeting strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills; oral and written.
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office
Requirements:
Education: BA/BS in Accounting required, along with CPA certified.
License: Valid and clean New York State Driver’s License preferred.
Experience:
• A minimum of five years of accounting experience in non-profit environment; OPWDD preferred;
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff including auditors and government regulators.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Fund EZ accounting/payroll software necessary.

Salary range $80-100K per year (consideration will be given to current CPA certification).
