The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
Directs all activities, practices and procedures relating to SBU accounting and book close functions to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all accounting records and statistical information.
Appraises SBU operating results and makes control recommendations to senior management that improve operating efficiency of the organization.
Directs the maintenance of accounting procedures, practices and programs for the SBU.
Drives the delivery of standard, repeatable and scalable processes supporting the wider business and SBU.
Drive sustainability for complex and non-standard processes and seek opportunities to streamline and simplify where possible.
This role would reporting to the Controller of Americas and will have responsibilities set forth below in support of the North America Specialty and Surety US business segments.
Responsibilities
Direct the management of the NAS US and Surety Domestic close and accounting team as well as work closely with business partners that impact the close to ensure coordination and lines of communication are strong.
Manage the functions of the monthly, quarterly, and annual book close cycles including oversight of financial systems and coordinating enhancements and resolution of potential production issues with applicable operational systems.
Directs the maintenance of accounting procedures, practices and programs.
Responsible for ensuring that department provides timely and accurate information to internal stakeholders (NAS US, Surety, GRS, Liberty) and external (auditors) customers.
Responsible for partnering with NAS US finance, actuarial and corporate stakeholders in order to ensure the accurate and timely of reserve estimates.
Partner with Surety Finance Lead in Europe to ensure the same within Surety.
Establishes and maintains effective communication in order to provide useful information to management.
Ensures a strong internal control environment is maintained and enhanced within finance.
Identify and drive regular review of process to improve the flow of financial information and processes.
Manage special projects as needed.
Hires, develops, provides coaching to, and makes compensation recommendations for, assigned staff.
Defines individual performance objectives and development plans
Qualifications
BS degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent, with advanced degree
MBA or CPA required
Additionally, requires minimum of 10 years of management responsibility
