The NAF is looking to hire an enthusiastic Staff Accountant (0.
5 FTE).
The Staff Accountant main duties include maintaining the NAF’s accounting, preparing financial statements, examining and analyzing a company’s accounts and ensuring compliance with financial reporting and other standard accounting procedures.
A successful candidate should have experience with accounting and financial software (QBO, Bill.
com) and stay up to date with current trends.
Expert-level knowledge of working with spreadsheets is crucial.
Experience with word processing software is essential.

All NAF staff are expected to work from the NAF office for a minimum of 60% of the time.

* Revenue: * Monitor US and European bank and stock accounts for incoming funds, circulate receipt to identify source and coding * Open mail in office and record checks received in electronic record and circulate information securely to development staff * Deposit all checks * Download Wise and PayPal transaction activity updating subsidiary ledger and convert to USD * Enter receipts as coded on supporting documents * Record investment activity on a monthly basis; * Reconcile petty cash and record activity(if any) * Expenses: * Record and pay bills, using Bill.
com and occasional wire payments * Make monthly payments to Dutch and American grantees in EUR and USD * Record debit card activity * Review copies of checks issued on bank website, comparing details to the general ledger; review for proper authorization * Initiate payment for employee pension plan contributions * Respond to report requests from Pension service provider * Prepare order for transit checks for employees * Payroll: * Obtain timesheet approval and process payroll semi-monthly * Submit payroll updates and new employee information to payroll service * Primary administrator for Vanguard 403(b) * Prepare form 1099’s at YE * Complete Annual Workers comp and disability audits * Record Payroll activity in general ledger * Submit Health insurance witholdings * Reconciliations: * Post gifts entered in CRM to QBO, Reconciliation of donor CRM with QBO * Reconcile bank accounts monthly * Submit and document approval of Executive Director’s and Treasurer's review of bank reconciliations and payroll reports * Reconcile student loan balances to detail maintained by student loan coordinator * Reconcile grant payable balances to subsidiary record * Reconcile Special Event receipts and disbursements to report prepared by outside fundraiser or other event organizer * Reconcile membership per the general ledger to membership reports from development coordinator * Reconcile Friends Funds receipts to detailed maintained by program manager * Reporting & budgeting * Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports * Assist in budget preparation * Audit and tax returns * Assist with communicating, coordinating and sending accounting file to outside auditors for annual audit; * Assist with preparing supporting schedules per the auditors' request; * Be present on site on the days of the audit when necessary; * Preparing and provide additional support as requested by the auditor; * Assist in all tax return preparation * Maintain, store and archive accounting records in accordance with the retention policy * Contact vendors with questions or concerns about bills and answers vendor inquiries * Other duties as assigned *Requirements:* o Accounting/finance degree o Experience with QuickBooks Online, or similar Accounting Software, as well as online payment systems such as Bill.
