We’re adding a full-time salaried Accountant to our team in the West Village.
Our ideal candidate is collaborative, communicative, reliable, and detail oriented, and driven by a strong work ethic and positive outlook.
In our company, finance management, payroll execution, bill payment, company administration, and analytical reporting are carried out by a small finance team in constant real-time contact with restaurant leadership and ownership.
The Accountant reports directly to the Director of Finance.
Primary responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
* Owning the Accounts Payable process from start to finish, including:
* --- Reviewing entries processed through our online invoice processing tool and imported into QuickBooks Online.
* --- Reviewing vendor statements and ensuring that SLA timing requirements are met for alcohol payments.
* --- Preparing vendor payments.
* --- Managing vendor communications and relationships.
* --- Filing physical and electronic invoices and statements.
* Administering restaurant level payroll, including:
* --- Reviewing electronic timecards once approved by managers.
* --- Reviewing tips once approved by managers.
* --- Preparing payroll transactions in the payroll system (Paycom).
* Preparing analyses of operational data to help management make decisions.
* Managing and recording prepaids, accruals and other accounting entries.
* Reconciling and reviewing restaurant sales and invoices weekly.
* Data entry of sales, bills and payments, payroll and other activity in the accounting records.
* Credit card reconciliation and recording.
Secondary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Payroll-related administration including:
* --- Employee pay rate changes.
* --- Employee onboarding and offboarding.
* --- Benefits administration, such as health insurance enrollment, workers compensation claims and disability claims.
* Managing company administration items such as permit renewals.
* Separation, intake, and review of restaurant mail.
* Some management of the physical office space.
Requirements:
* Experience in accounting and a fundamental understanding of accounting is essential.
* At minimum, an associate degree in accounting or financial management is required.
* Mastery of verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, displaying an ability to work adeptly and process data with maximum efficiency.
* Experience using accounting software.
Expertise in QuickBooks Online preferred but not required.
* Motivated to work through repetitive tasks and confidence to tackle unique problems through independent research as well as collaboration.
