Reporting to the Director of Accounting this position is responsible for performing cost accounting functions.
This includes analysis of orders to ensure that costs are applied appropriately in a timely and accurate manner; allocation of paper costs utilizing third party vendor reports; follow up with production team and other departments on any issues arising in the processes; executing month end closing procedures; reconciliations of various subledgers to general ledger accounts; preparation, review and distribution of various cost reports.
This position will utilize available technologies and standard procedures to perform functions as effectively and efficiently as possible.
What you'll do:
Review, analyze and correct order costs as needed, interact with other departments to resolve costing related issues, communicate significant issues to management and business units
Month End Close – Run month-end reports and review for completeness and accuracy; prepare and post journal entries for reclasses, accruals, etc.
; proactively resolve open issues and questions
Reconciliations – Analyze and compare activity between sub-ledger and general ledger accounts, investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner, communicate potential issues to management
Assist with ad hoc analysis as requested, support other team members and share knowledge
Assist with cost accounting requirements for the annual audit
What you'll bring:
2-3 years of relevant work experience in accounting roles
Understanding of Cost Accounting processes
Solid Understanding of US GAAP
Advanced Excel (including ability to work with large data sets)
Proficiency with SAP, and Analysis for Office (AO) is a plus
Effective communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Publishing experience is a plus
This role will have an annual salary of $75,000 - $85,000.
