Position Overview - Finance Operations Accountant
This position will partner with the rest of the Accounting and Finance teams domestically and internationally to ensure efficient and timely operations of the accounting function.
Organizational Structure - Reporting Relationships
Department Head: Director of Accounting
Executive Committee: VP, Finance
Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
Take lead and direct Accounts Receivable (AR) functions and ensure smooth operations between subledger and general ledger activities.
Perform revenue analysis, cash receipt applications, and sales reconciliation between POS and GL.
Lead and monitor customer accounts (AR aging) for collections process.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
Assist with month-end close activities which would include preparing accruals, journal entries, and account analysis.
Liase with SMCP's tax advisors when needed (i.
e.
, property taxes and sales taxes).
Assist with month-end balance sheet reconciliations.
Maintain financial reports, records, and GL accounts.
Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Assist with tax, internal and external audits.
Assist the Director of Accounting as needed, which would include ad-hoc assignments when required.
Principal Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Required
3-4 years' experience in a related field
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Knowledge of accounting terminology, concepts, practices, and procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
Advanced knowledge of Excel is required.
Knowledge of Oracle & Hyperion Essbase is a plus
Able to handle multiple tasks in an organized manner; prioritize and meet deadlines, concurrently
Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Proven experience working independently, in a fast-paced environment
