Accountant

DESCRIPTION:
The Financial Analyst/Sr.
Accountant will be responsible for the daily operations of banking, trust and accounts payable as well as the daily operations for the firm’s international component company in the areas of banking, billing, client relations, compliance, and accounts payable.
Will work alongside the regional senior billing coordinator to ensure that all the northeast region’s billing and collections statements are processed in a timely manner.
Will be the liaison for all communications and relations with the firm’s northeast banks.
Assists the Director of Finance with implementing new technology and standard operating procedures.
RESPONSABILITIES:
Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Ensures all incoming emails/correspondences to the Accounting department are promptly addressed.
Assists the Director of Finance with implementing new technology or standard operating procedures.
Responsible for the daily operations of Banking, Trust, and Accounts Payable.
Responsible for the daily operations of the firm’s international component company in the areas of Banking, Billing, Client Relations, Compliance, and Accounts Payable.
Work alongside the regional senior billing coordinator to ensure timely billing and collections statements are prepared in the north east region.
Monitors Unapplied, Trust, and WIP balances.
Ensures all expense reports are processed and paid on time.
Communicates with bank officials regarding ach payments, wire
transfer notifications, bank account status, etc.
Maintains an orderly electronic imaging system (Expert Image).
Complete filing of Sales and Use Tax for NY/NJ offices.

Reporting
Provides management with regular status reports regarding daily balances and transactions
Assist management with ad-hoc financial reporting for the regional offices and the firm’s international practice.
Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree in Accounting combined with five or more years of related experience or training in accounting procedures, specifically in a Law Firm setting.
Must have the ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must have experience interpreting financial statements, recording journal entries, performing higher-level calculations for budgets, statistical analysis, and probability statements.
The Financial Analyst/Sr.
Accountant must use the utmost discretion in all aspects of the job.
Must have experience in Aderant Expert or similar legal software.
Microsoft Office experience with proficiency in Excel.
