ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The SIU investigator is responsible for conducting in-depth investigations involving allegations of fraudulent activity and/or other dishonesty by employees, vendors, agents, groups, and others.
Investigations are performed applying required knowledge and expertise including:
Civil and criminal law,
Company policies, procedures and contracts
Interview techniques.
This position is located in NYC.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Interviewing individuals involved such as clients, witnesses, management and persons of interest.
Interacting with law enforcement and representatives of governmental and investigative agencies.
Analyzing and evaluating transactions/data to develop an investigative action plan and to reach a logical conclusion in a timely manner.
Conducting internal and external database searches.
Documenting the SIU Case Management System with daily investigative activity and preparing investigative reports setting forth facts of case in a clear, concise, accurate and thorough manner.
The report may be used as a basis to terminate an employee, initiate civil litigation or by a law enforcement agency to prosecute.
Conducting Company-wide fraud awareness training.
Detecting and preventing fraud.
Interacting with industry associations to stay current on fraud related developments.
Training and mentoring new and junior SIU investigative personnel.
Testifying in court proceedings
Preparing article/s for the Company SIU intranet site.
Willingness to travel on short notice (primarily domestic).
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (Criminal Justice or Accounting majors preferred)
5+years of relevant work experience (life insurance/ SIU/law enforcement investigative experience preferred)
Ability to build relationships quickly
Good public speaking skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
CFE preferred or willing to work towards obtaining CFE
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Good social media skills
Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing with the DMV.
Salary range: $72,500-$107,500
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
