The Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the payroll functions within the Human Resources Department at Baruch College.
They will work closely with University Payroll to ensure accurate and efficient payroll management for Baruch College staff.
This position will report to the HR Payroll Manager.
In addition to the CUNY title overview, duties include but are not limited to the following: Assists in the coordination of overall payroll process; reviews and interprets contractual agreements/provisions and Payroll Bulletins for implementation and update.
Advises employees and managers of Human Resources policies and guidelines; provides a high level of customer service in assisting members of the college community.
Supervises, trains, and assists staff and the college community with personnel systems (CUNYfirst, electronic timekeeping systems, etc.
).
Review and approve timesheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university policies.
Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant labor laws and regulations.
Ensure data integrity and confidentiality of employee information.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to employees regarding payroll inquiries.
Assist in resolving any issues or questions related to payroll management.
Conducts a detailed analysis and audit to implement Collective Bargaining Agreements timely and accurately.
Interacts with payroll officials to carry out special actions (e.
g.
overpayments, replacement checks, stop payments, split checks).
Conducts research and analysis for routine and non-routine matters related to employee payroll administration.
Prepares and disseminates HR system reports to managers and employees as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
Preferred Skills Two years of supervisory experience.
Four years of Human Resources experience in higher education with a focus on Payroll and Compensation.
Strong knowledge of payroll processes.
Experience providing payroll support in a fast-paced, large, and complex company or organization.
Detailed oriented with demonstrated organization and problem-solving skills.
Solid knowledge of federal, state, and city laws and regulations impacting payroll operations.
Proficiency in PeopleSoft, electronic timekeeping systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to manage multiple projects with demanding deadlines.

Advises employees and managers on Human Resources policies and guidelines; provides a high level of customer service in assisting members of the College community Supervises and administers one or more human resources programs such as recruiting, pay administration, employee orientation, employee benefits, data entry and recordkeeping, and performance appraisal/reappointment practices Maintains an in-depth understanding of CUNY rules and regulations, relevant laws and guidelines, collective bargaining agreements, and College policies, and applies these to his/her areas of responsibility Investigates regarding sensitive employee issues or complaints Helps create innovative communications such as manuals, web pages, or employee meetings and provides these to the College community Performs related duties as assigned.
