TITLE: Director, Media & Telecommunications
DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Director, Media & Telecommunications in New York, NY to work closely and collaborate with the respective Managing Director(s) to manage client relationships.
Address all credit-related activities including: the completion of credit presentations, identifying lending and cross-sell opportunities, structuring loan transactions, building financial models, negotiating documentation and monitoring compliance and industry trends in both English and Spanish.
Focus on clients within Media and Telecommunications sectors that have both domestic and international capital market needs.
Work regularly with other GBM partners including Investment Banking, Debt Products Group, Debt Capital Markets, Foreign Exchange, and Global Business Payments to broaden client relationships.
Structure, analyze and perform due diligence on transactions that vary in complexity with a deep understanding of credit products and policies.
Coordinate and work closely with other groups within GBM (Global Banking and Markets) including Investment Banking, to assist with the preparation of marketing pitches to existing and new clients.
Work with Counsel to structure complex transactions and prepare client pitch books and term sheets.
Formulate and then develop recommendations for the appropriate course of action on transactions and prepare credit submissions for adjudication by Global Risk Management.
Perform day-to-day account management on client relationships including annual reviews, compliance reporting, trending, and new credit requests.
Continue to expand subject matter expertise via ongoing education efforts on industry and product knowledge while deepening and developing relationships with clients, lenders, bank counsel and third-party advisors/consultants within the Media and Telecommunications sector.
Review, negotiate and structure credit agreements with external counsel culminating in the successful closing of transactions, including registration of collateral where applicable.
Play a key role in the training, development and coaching of more junior staff including Analysts, Associates and Associate Directors.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related and nine (9) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: executing credit related activities and deal-related documentation for Latin American corporate clients including performing credit analysis, preparing credit presentations, structuring loan transactions, and negotiating legal documentation in Spanish; performing credit analysis to assess creditworthiness of borrowers; preparing financial projections and financial modeling; utilizing telecommunications industry expertise; managing client relationships including working with treasury and funding products; interacting with clients and working with LatAm branches and lawyers.
Spanish fluency required.
25% travel required, both domestic and international.
The offered salary is between $250,000 and $250,000 per year, 40 hours per week.
