Our client, in the consumer packaged goods industry, is looking for an Interim Senior Accountant for 6 months.
The critical functions of this role include ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decision-making.
You will be responsible for various accounting functions and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency and financial transparency.
The ideal candidate has a background in the full range cycle of accounting and experience in the consumer packaged goods industry.
This is a 1099 full time contract, hybrid role with 2 days onsite in New York City.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
* Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
* Perform complex accounting activities such as bank and balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
* Monitor and enforce compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
* Evaluate and improve internal controls to mitigate financial risks and enhance operational effectiveness.
* Provide financial insights and recommendations to management based on analysis of financial data and trends.
* Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with departmental leaders to develop accurate projections.
* Mentor and train junior staff members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
* Contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned by the finance leadership team.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in similar role
* Proficiency in using Netsuite and Excel
* Experience in consumer packaged goods
* Thorough understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
