Position Overview:
As a Staff Accountant at United Community Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in managing our nonprofit's financial operations and grant-related activities.
This position requires a dedicated and detail-oriented professional who can ensure the efficient allocation of resources to support our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Policy Development: Establish and maintain financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems to maximize the organization's financial assets.
Financial Decision Support: Provide guidance for financial decisions by developing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures in alignment with the organization's objectives.
Asset Protection: Safeguard the organization's assets by implementing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls to prevent financial mismanagement.
Audit Oversight: Oversee financial audits, collaborate with external auditors, and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
Cash Management: Effectively manage cash resources by minimizing bank balances and making informed investment decisions.
Budget Preparation: Develop budgets by establishing schedules, collecting and analyzing financial data, and recommending financial plans that align with organizational goals.
Budget Management: Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Financial Reporting: Provide accurate and timely financial reports, including specialized reports on financial data and trends.
Legal Compliance: Stay informed about federal, state, and local financial regulations, ensuring the organization's adherence to all requirements.
Equipment and Resource Management: Manage equipment maintenance, service contracts, inventories, and evaluate new equipment and technologies.
Team Leadership: Lead and support financial staff, providing coaching, counseling, and performance management.
Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, attend educational workshops, review professional publications, and participate in relevant professional societies.
Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of the organization's financial information and plans.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA certification preferred).
Proven experience in financial management and nonprofit accounting.
Proficiency in financial software for data analysis and reporting.
Strong understanding of auditing and accounting principles.
Knowledge of corporate finance practices and budget management.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
