WR Arts is currently seeking reliable, warm-hearted, and passionate people to join our team.
We’re looking for In-School assistance to support our teaching artists during our after-school programing, between 2 - 6PM
MUST BE ABLE TO ARRIVE TO GREENPOINT/ WILLIAMSBURG/ BED STUY AREA BY 2PM
MUST BE AVAILABLE TO START IN APRIL.
WR Arts strives to support Northern Brooklyn’s diverse communities, bridging cultures through the performing arts.
WR Arts provides quality performing arts enrichment education in a safe and supportive environment throughout the Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Bed Stuy areas.
Our after school programs include public and private school partnerships and programming at our home-base studio.
We’re looking for reliable, punctual, self-motivated, committed assistants to help support our teaching artists and instructors implement dance, music, fine arts/crafting & theatrical programming.
Ideal applicants will have childcare experience with children aged 3 - 5, looking to cultivate a career in early childhood education and/or Arts Education.
We’re looking for individuals who are PATIENT, flexible, engaging, able to assess student needs and manage a classroom setting.
Ability to care for young students in 3K, Pre-K and Kindergarten is a PLUS.
Individuals with dance, music and/or theatrical training and knowledge are preferred; however, extensive training is not required.
*Requirements:*
* High school diploma
* 2+ years group childcare experience required.
* Teaching/ Teacher assistance & counseling experience is a plus.
* Experience caring for/working with with 3 - 5 year olds.
* Understanding of program physicality (eg.
lending hands-on assistance to students/ tying shoes, etc.
)
* Ability to respectfully interact with students.
* Ability to engage students with planned activities, but who also how and when to modify a plan
* Ability to self manage & work as a team mate.
* Excellent communication skills with co-workers and management
* Organized, responsive and PUNCTUAL.
* Bilingual (spanish/english) is a plus
* Must be available at least 2 - 3 days a week between 2-6PM; Tuesday, Wednesday, &/or Thursday.
* Must be able to commute & arrive to the Bed Stuy, Williamsburg, or Greenpoint area by 2PM during the week
* All WR Arts Teaching Artists, Assistants/ counselors and volunteers must have Photo Identification
* 1- 3 References (Email and Phone numbers) must be provided at time of interview.
* April 2nd, 2024 through June 14th, 2024 with the option to renew agreements for future sessions.
Potential to move into teaching roles.

Shifts are currently ranging 2- 3 hours; To be discussed & determined by the length of the instructional day
Our teaching artists and counselors are Independent Contractors of WR Arts and are not considered employees.
Teaching Artists are paid through 1099 and required to pay their own self-employment taxes.
Additionally, contractors are ineligible for unemployment, health, or transportation benefits through WR Arts.
