MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform cleaning, housekeeping, and light maintenance tasks and services throughout assigned property.
Clean and sanitize shared facilities and common spaces.
Inspect, clean and re-stock public bathrooms daily.
Clean offices, playrooms, and daycare rooms daily.
Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and buff common area floors as directed.
Clean residential units when vacated and inform the Superintendent of needed repairs.
Vacuum and clean floors, rugs, furniture, and drapes.
Clean windows, vents, fans, all fixtures, fire equipment and furnishings on a regular basis and inform the Superintendent of needed repairs.
Empty trash containers.
Bag and remove garbage/refuse to collection point in accordance with NYC Sanitation requirements.
Assist in accepting deliveries, unpacking, and stocking shelves.
Examine property for safety hazards and report problems to the Superintendent or other appropriate staff.
Ensure that cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked as needed.
Collaborate with a team of workers and other professionals during renovations.
Report to the Superintendent and/or Program Director regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress.
Perform other related duties as required.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Thorough understanding of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
Detail-oriented and thorough ability to perform housekeeping tasks and operate equipment used in routine maintenance.
Ability to keep the property clean and orderly.
Ability to work independently, assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with people of diverse educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds.
Courteous demeanor toward staff, customers, clients, and visitors to the property.
Must be a responsible individual with a reputable character, known to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work well under pressure and demonstrate a calm manner during crises.
Acknowledge and application of self-care and work-life balance for self and others.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands of the job include standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
Able to travel between sites throughout NYC.
Able to work outdoors in adverse conditions (heat or cold)
