Kitchen Staff/Cook

We are looking for experienced Cooks to join our team.
The ideal candidates will have a passion for cooking and a commitment to creating high-quality dishes for afterschool programs, special events and soup kitchen meals.
Successful candidates will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, take direction well, and be able to work independently.
Cooks will be responsible for preparing meals according to recipes, ensuring that all food is stored and handled properly, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen.
*Responsibilities:* * Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
* Cook food according to recipes and menu specifications.
* Monitor food quality while preparing food.
* Ensure proper food storage procedures are followed.
* Keep records of the quantities of food used.
*Qualifications:* * Knowledge of proper cooking methods and procedures * Knowledge of meal planning techniques * Knowledge of acceptable food storage and cleaning techniques * Ability to cook nutritional, tasteful, and safe food for large groups (200 -500 people) in a timely manner * Ability to properly clean kitchen appliances and utensils * Ability to order food and kitchen supplies in an economical manner and to maintain an adequate level of inventory.
* Must be able to read and write.
* Must have excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
* Performs as a team member * ServSafe Food Handler certification (preferred) Job Type: Part-time Pay: $18.
