Venue Description
The James Beard Foundation PLATFORM is a mission-centered showcase kitchen, event, dining, and culinary demonstration space, as well as a vendor kiosk featuring visiting guest chefs.
PLATFORM, which includes event space for up to 80 guests, is situated within the new Pier 57 Food Hall, home to 17 additional culinary kiosk vendors serving as an incubator for local small businesses and food entrepreneurs aligned with the Foundation’s mission of championing a standard of good food anchored in talent, equity, and sustainability.

Great Performances
Great Performances, which will operate PLATFORM, is a hospitality management company committed to collaboration, innovation, and quality.
The woman-owned business serving New York City for over 40 years is renowned for events catering as well as food service in celebrated New York City cultural institutions, including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Apollo Theater, and others.
Great Performances is the nation’s first caterer to own and operate its own organic farm, Katchkie Farm, located in Kinderhook, NY.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1-2 years of hospitality industry houseman role
Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of any banquet rooms, hallways, storage and service areas
Responsible for complete setup and breakdown of all events, following all specified BEO details and event diagrams.
This will include but is not limited to tables, chairs, portable bars, stations, buffets, etc.
Knowledge of protocols for dish cleaning and sanitation
Maintain the cleanliness of all kitchen and warehouse areas throughout the shift.
Cleaning of floors, walls, windows, restrooms, and other surfaces; proper care, movement, and storage of equipment, including tables, chairs, and stage as required, maintaining guest readiness.
Follow the Department of Health standards and guidelines
Daily set up and break down of tables, chairs, serving food items, and maintaining the Demo Kitchen/ Kiosk Facility
Inspect the cleanliness and working condition of all equipment and supplies to be set up in the function area; rectify any deficiencies
Responsible for maintaining all storage and service areas
Responsible for checking in all deliveries to ensure they meet JBF standards
Must be able to perform other duties as requested by management
Be able to work in a team environment and take direction
Communicate effectively with all team members
Respect for fellow employees, including management and vendors
Ability to lift 75 pounds as well as delicate objects and glassware
Stand, reach, and bend throughout the shift
Responsible, dependable, and punctual
Weekend days may be required.
