Peal & Co.
expertly crafted for Brooks Brothers in fine calfskin.
Leather lining and soles.
Genuine Goodyear® welt construction.
Made in England.
Retailed for $698 These shoes are Peal & Co.
, but are crafted by Crockett & Jones, one of the finest shoe makers in the world, and indisputably make the absolute highest quality handcrafted dress shoes that come out of in England…full stop.
Many of the high end shoe factories in England have been taken over by other brands (like Church's) or make some of their shoes outside of England (like Grenson).
But Crockett & Jones has remained family owned for over a century and to this day still make their shoes from the same factory in Northampton, England.
As for the shoes themselves, they are expensive, yes, but are worth every penny.
This pair is my second, which was only worn twice! Assembled with old time craftsmanship and good quality materials.
I appreciated stitching and nails done with high-quality techniques.
The silhouette of these shoes just have that elegance that American, Italian, and Spanish shoes can't replicate.
It's hard to describe, but once you put them on, you'll understand.
The leather is thick but supple, the goodyear welt and stitching is perfect.
I can just tell they put so much time and attention to make the highest quality shoe without imperfections.
They are slightly elongated to get that elegant look, but most of that extra space is in the very tip of the shoe where your toes can't fit anyway, so I say they fit true to size in length.
They are slightly narrow, but I went with my normal D width and they fit snug but still very comfortable.
Overall, these shoes are easy and natural to walk in and have a feel of a French guilloche Oxford where most of the walking is found naturally in the back.
The front naturally creases for a smooth walk, but barely dents compared to that of an Alden or Gucci shoe.
In my opinion from my past experiences of owning Allen Edmonds (made in Italy), Alden (made in America), and Gucci (made in Italy), I believe Brooks Brothers has outperformed its competitors for its quality, style, and luxury of its Oxford brand.
