What is the ingredient?
- The canine oral health postbiotic is made from natural microbial strains
- We combine these strains into new combinations to naturally and effectively promote a health oral microbiome and improve oral health in dogs
- The ingredient meets the highest levels of safety for inclusion in pet food: it has gone through an extensive safety review process including detailed analysis of the strains whole genome sequence, has already been fed to dogs in a third party study, and meets all requirements for incorporation into pet food (including meeting AAFCO definitions, the body that provides guidance on animal and pet food).
- The ingredient is natural, non-GMO, and doesn’t include corn, wheat, nor soy.
What is this study?
- The purpose of this study is to measure the ability of our ingredient to reduce canine oral malodor (bad breath) in dogs.
- The study has been designed by multiple PhD scientists in consultation with board certified and licensed vet dentists (DAVDCs)
- We've already demonstrated that the ingredient works in in vitro and ex vivo canine models.
- Through a third-party study, we have also demonstrated the ingredient to be safe and palatable for dogs, so this study is really all about generating efficacy data, not about showing safety!
Is my dog eligible?
Your dog may qualify if it is:
- Between 1-7 years old
- Not taking any prescribed medication
- In a health weight range for its breed
- Not pregnant and has not been pregnant in the last 6 months
- Friendly around strangers, has never bitten another individual, and has never required muzzling at the vet
What can I expect if I’m selected to participate?
- If you are selected to participate, you will be asked to:
- Add a powder meal topper to your dog’s food daily
- Fill out a short daily survey (<1 minute)
- Not change your dog’s food diet during the study
- Not feed dental chews/dental treats/dental supplements during the study (other treats are fine)
- Not brush your dog’s teeth during the study
- Bring your dog into our office at the Brooklyn Navy Yard 3 times throughout the study so we can sample your dog’s saliva and measure the bad breath compounds present.
What’s in it for me?
- Participants who are selected and complete the first visit to our office will receive $50 in the form of a Visa gift card.
- Participants who progress in the study and complete the second and third visits to our office will receive an additional $150 in the form of a Visa gift card.
- If you refer a friend who successfully completes the study you will receive $25 in the form of a Visa gift card per referee.
